Modern design that impresses

The St. Pölten University Hospital has opted for the elegant GM RAILING® UNI PLAN 1 SIDE railing system for its redesign. With around 220 running metres of glass railings extending over 10 floors, the project impresses with its modern design and seamless integration into the architecture of the building.

Transparency and lightness

During the renovation work at the university hospital, the focus was on the use of high-quality, modern materials and a purist design. The GM RAILING® UNI PLAN 1 SIDE system supports this approach and emphasises the contemporary style of the building. The laminated safety glass (LSG) 20.4 used, combined with toughened safety glass (TSG), was finished with a black screen print in RAL 7021 black grey. This design not only brings light and openness into the stairwell, but also offers maximum stability and safety. The discreet colour scheme and clear lines ensure a timeless aesthetic that emphasises the modern appearance of the clinic. The tight installation situation posed a particular challenge, as precision was required to install the glass on both sides of the stairs. In addition, the hospital's structural specifications, in particular the width of the flights of stairs, had to be adhered to exactly.

Light-flooded rooms for more openness

A key feature of the GM RAILING® UNI PLAN 1 SIDE system is the promotion of natural light into the stairwells. In an environment where brightness has a calming effect on patients and staff, the translucent glass railings play a key role. The almost invisible fastening mechanism maintains the transparent look and makes the rooms appear more spacious. In addition to the glass installation, the substructure and a discreet handrail were integrated on the upper edge of the glass. The overall design is harmoniously rounded off by the installation of a wiper plate and an attached handrail.
