GLASS MARTE DESIGN IN AWARD-WINNING MOZARTEUM FOYER

A great performance for GM ICE-H®

Go Back

Mozarteum Foyer received the Austrian State Prize for Architecture 2023 in the service category for its exemplary realisation. The structured glass GM ICE-H® for the floor was supplied by the Bregenz-based family business Glas Marte.

The architects Maria Flöckner and Hermann Schnöll faced the challenging task of carefully redesigning the cultural centre: the aim was to preserve the historical character on the one hand and to set modern architectural accents on the other. A foyer building was created that blends harmoniously between the two existing buildings and impresses with its lightweight construction and sophisticated design elements. The GM ICE-H® structured glass is a particular eye-catcher.

TRANSPARENT STRUCTURES

The transparency of the connecting wing, which consists of white glass and oiled black steel strips, extends to the floor. Glas Marte's structured glass not only serves as a building material here: it enhances the overall architectural concept and gives the floor its unique character. The broken structure of the glass evokes ice crystals that diffuse the light as it passes through them. The spacious room is thus enveloped in a special atmosphere. The anti-slip GM ICE H® also fulfils the highest safety standards.
